LAST WEEK’S RESULTS:

mgwcc392

We sought a well-known singer last week, and the three starred clues, all downs, were:

19-D [One of three that you’re looking for by this puzzle’s meta answer*] = ALBUM TITLE
21-D [What each 19-Down you’re looking for also is, in this meta*] = CLUE NUMBER
25-D [Young woman celebrity (usually an actress, but here a singer), like this puzzle’s meta answer; or, indicator on each of the three relevant hints (including this one!)*] = STARLET. A little odd to call an established singer a “starlet” instead of a not-yet-established actress, and to refer to an asterisk as a “starlet.” But apparently everyone knew what I meant, since only three people sent in an incorrect answer.

Anyway, we need a singer with albums titled “19,” “21,” and “25,” and that would of course be ADELE, whose albums are all named for the age she was when she released them.

Jon Delfin says:

And for my next number…

Ephraim writes:

Because of being 58, I had to look up the answer.

canyouneilthelovetonight says:

I’ve been trying for a few years to come up with a joke whose punchline is “Dude you’re getting Adele!”

And Matt M. says:

I hope you get 3.4 million subscribers in the first week of the next MGWCC cycle…

Probably not, but it is almost time to renew for 2016! Gift subscriptions available for those to whom you wish to spread the holiday cheer, too. We’ll be sending out a reminder e-mail this weekend as well.

This week’s winner, whose name was chosen at random from the 436 correct entries received, is Sean B. of Endicott, N.Y. In addition to a MGWCC pen, pencil and notepad set, Sean will also receive a 1-year subscription to my new crossword feature, Matt Gaffney’s Daily Crossword.
