Week 1 of 5, so super-easy. Our theme entries were:
14-A: [Store that had giraffes in its ads] = TOYS ‘R’ US
20-A: [Animated sitcom featuring the voices of Bill Burr and Laura Dern] = F IS FOR FAMILY
31-A: [Cereal since 1955] = SPECIAL K
43-A: [Outlet mall store] = J. CREW FACTORY
52-A: [“Gladiator” and “Evil Dead Rise” have one] = R-RATING
Those single letters spell our contest answer, activist and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr, aka. RFKJR. In the 1990s, at the stadium named for his father, I caught a number of obscure musical acts in concert, such as The Who, Paul McCartney, and U2. Apparently they just started demolishing the stadium a few weeks ago. Egad!
Several solvers expressed displeasure with some of RFK JR’s political stances, so in deference to them I will, instead of showing a video of him, show instead a video of his hilarious wife, Cheryl Hines. I wonder how many times the actors couldn’t stop cracking up while making this scene:
