LAST WEEK’S RESULTS:

Title: “What Can We Do for You?”
Instructions: This week’s contest answer is certain parts of the body.
Answer: FINGERS

Six theme entries last week, judging by length. They were:

17-A: [“I see what you mean”] = POINT TAKEN. When you wish to flummox your opponent during a vigorous debate, wait until they make a logical point you hadn’t considered and calmly say “Point taken.” Then watch their brain short-circuit.

21-A: [Ridicule] = POKE FUN AT

34-A: [Pitcher’s replacement, often] = PINCH-HITTER

43-A: [Cher’s line after slapping Nicolas Cage in “Moonstruck”] = SNAP OUT OF IT!

53-A: [Update one another] = TOUCH BASE

62-A: [Meet by chance] = CROSS PATHS

You can POINT, POKE, PINCH, SNAP, TOUCH, and CROSS with your fingers (cross your fingers for good luck or when you’re lying is that last one), making those body parts our contest answer. Week 1 of 5 is supposed to be unmissable, and mission accomplished: 618 correct answers, and count’-’em-ZERO incorrect ones. Nice work all around!
