LAST WEEK’S RESULTS:
We were looking for a seven-letter word last week, and our theme entries, all running downward, were:
3-D [All that money you got for suing the chiropractor?] = VERTEBRA ZILLION
5-D [Outdoor fun at a New York racetrack?] = SARATOGA BONFIRE
9-D [Two things you need to start your flying carpet company?] = THE RUG AND A DRONE
11-D [Disagrees with ancient Thai secessionists?] = IS BEHIND ONE SIAM
As you can see from the emboldened text above, each of these four entries conceals a country. What’s the common bond? They’re four of the 13 countries through which contest answer the EQUATOR passes. Note as-close-as-I-could get it west-east and north-south accuracy.
ChrisDC asks:
Kenya keep the puzzles easy all month long?
Kettlebadger had a smooth solve:
No google dismal-dives or grief stricken yawps during this one
Similarly, Raygirl notes:
I have taken yachts there, bragged Blossom. Joey rolled his eyes and called Blossom a liar.
Anne E was a bit disappointed:
Surely you could have gotten Democratic Republic of the Congo in there somehow?
gifo suggests an even greater challenge than Anne’s:
Let’s see you do this on the international date line…
lisepac hit a milestone:
Think I’ve got my first 3-week streak!
And finally, Golem says:
I expect you to show zero latitude for wrong answers this week.
This week’s winner, whose name was chosen at random from among the 443 correct entries received, is Hugh Murphy of Glen Mills, Penna. In addition to a MGWCC pen, pencil, and notepad set, Hugh will also receive a copy of this.
THIS WEEK’S INSTRUCTIONS:
This week’s contest answer is a kind of person.
Solve well, and be not led astray by words intended to deceive.
